Day 7. 4/6/2014.

Plan for the week: OFF CPAP (and today, they took you off your CPAP!!!!!)

Plan for the day: Breathe, rest, and grow!

Hooray!  You are one week old today!  Daddy and I are so proud of you and the big boy you are!  You're making progress each day and we'll be here every step cheering you on!

You had a BIG morning, Little Man!  They removed your IV in your belly (to decrease risk of infection) and started a regular IV in your hand which you'll have for a couple days.

They've increased your feedings and you're doing well!

Go Maverick, Go!

Missing Our Graham.

One of the hardest parts of this journey is being away from our Graham.  Daddy and I have never been away from him since the day he was born and we miss him every second of every minute of every day.  The moment anyone asks about him, I breakdown and cry, but we know this is just temporary and we will all be together very soon.

Lucky for us, Graham has THE BEST Lola, Papa, and Uncle Moon to care after him and we are so very grateful and feel so very blessed.

They send pictures and videos daily and it helps us feel a part of Graham's day.

Here he is with Papa and Uncle Xavier on their morning stroll to the park.

And! His Manangs Edean and Edrienne paid him a special visit this afternoon too!

We also FaceTime and talk as much as possible too.  We will see him as soon as we can, but for now, we are just thankful he is under the best love and care.

Day 6. 4/5/2014.

Weight: 3lbs. 12oz.

Plan for the day: Breathe, rest, grow.

This morning, Mommy got to change you and wipe your beautiful head down. Then I gave you a head massage and, boy oh boy, did you love that!

Without all your fancy headgear, you clearly look just like your big brother Graham!  And here you are, in all your beautiful glory, with a head full of hair and a smile that can move mountains...

Later in the afternoon, we did some of that wonderful s2s and you soaked up every second.  Mommy did too.

May God and Uncle Alex continue to watch over you.  We love you Maverick and can't wait for tomorrow's adventure!

Day 5. 4/4/2014.

Weight: 3lbs. 11.3oz.

Plan for the day: Rest and Grow!

Today, you made poop twice this morning!  Funny how mommies get excited over poop lol!

You're starting to digest your feedings and they're increasing your feeding amounts.

You were off your CPAP for a little while this morning but you're not quite taking the big boy breaths yet (as Nurse Alex says (funny how you have a nurse named Alex right?! Your Uncle Alex was sending us a sign to tell us he's watching over you too)), so they put it back on.  It's ok because we don't want to rush you and besides, it's your fighter jet helmet contraption and kinda goes with your name.

And they took you off your suntanning regimen and will do labs tomorrow to see if you still need the bili lights.

You're a tall little guy.  You like to stretch, like to be swaddled more, but love being with Mommy the best!

Look at that big toe on your right foot... JUST like your big brother Graham!!!

Day 4. 4/3/2014.

Weight: 3lbs. 15oz.

Plan for the day: Suntan with your sunnies on under the Bili lights, labs, rest, grow!

We got to stamp your footprints on your birth certificate.  We even stamped a couple eggs for Easter!

Then, Mommy got to hold you skin to skin for the first time!  It felt exactly like home!

Day 3. 4/2/2014.

Weight: 3lbs. 13oz.

Plan for the day: Labs, rest, grow!

Your blood test came back and you have jaundice so they put you under the Bili Light.  Maverick, you're electric!

This afternoon, you started waking up a little and fussing and Daddy calmed you and sang you the same song he sings to soothe your big brother Graham.

And this evening, you got to be right where you love it most... in Mommy's arms.

Day 2. 4/1/2014

Weight: 4lbs 3oz

Today was a big day for you, Maverick!

They extubated you (removed the tube) so you are now breathing all on your own!  You're now on a CPAP which is that cool looking fighter jet contraption connected to his baby beanie. That blows pressure to help expand your lungs.

Daddy and Mommy met with the NICU Doctors and Nurses and got updates on your status and the plan for you moving forward.

And at the end of an exhausting day, the Respiratory Doctor and Nurse said you were stable enough so Mommy could hold you for the very first time!!!  It took a lot of effort to get you unhooked and wrapped up but once you were in my arms, you were so content and right where you needed to be.  I will never forget that moment for the rest of our lives.
